Who We Are
Meet the team…
Liz - The Founder
I was never the sporty one at school, I hated PE so tried my best to get out of it most weeks. It was assumed my height and my long legs would be advantageous for things like netball and long distance running, they were wrong!
Throughout the rest of my life I made various attempts at starting to exercise. I had various gym memberships, tried a bit of running, bought a bike, tried various classes, and more. Nothing really motivated me for long to continue. Aside from the lack of motivation and enthusiasm I had 2 children and found being a Mum was hard. There wasn’t much time left to prioritise me between school runs, outside school activities, running a home and working. I just felt tired.
It wasn’t until my early forties when I eventually signed up to work with a Personal Trainer that I started to reap the benefits of exercise. I was encouraged to lift heavy weights, to squat, deadlift and bicep curl and I loved it! So much so that I decided to enter a few body building competitions. I learned a lot through this journey and decided I wanted to re-train to become a Personal Trainer.
My passion as a personal trainer is to show women the benefits of exercise and particularly the benefits of resistance training. I want to make fitness and exercise accessible to all women regardless of any barriers they may feel be in their way. I want to show them their potential and make them feel strong in every sense.
Sara - The Cheerleader
I grew up in the 90’s when ‘thin was in’ and I definitely was not! As I grew up I was obsessed about my body and my weight. I only set foot in a gym when I was on a super restrictive diet – something that was always doomed to fail.
After losing my Mum in my early twenties I got in a negative pattern of using food to suppress spiralling and confusing emotions. I ended up at my highest weight when I was 30 years old, depressed and deeply unhappy. So of course I started another diet! The difference this time was that I actually committed to exercise with a Personal Trainer. I absolutely loved the time spent in the gym with him. We had a good laugh and I worked hard. His sessions really started to boost my confidence and my self-esteem. That feeling is what made me re-train to become a Personal Trainer – the ability to make people feel good about themselves is so rewarding.
I always aim to bring that positive energy into my sessions with our members. I am their biggest cheerleader.
Suzanne - The Sporty One
I was always the sporty one at school – on every team, played every sport and loved PE. At school I played hockey and was a sprinter (I didn’t like long-distance runs though). I joined a gym as soon as I was able to and my love of fitness has never left me. I’ve done various team sports, martial arts/kickboxing and lots of gym work. Nowadays my training mainly consists of weightlifting, some Olympic lifting, and some HIIT/metcon/boxing style workouts.
I love being a role model to my family who see me as active and strong and i’ve seen this impress them to want to be the same. I also absolutely love my job - being able to work with some amazing women, helping them to achieve their goals, get stronger and more confident.
